ACT Program

What is the ACT Program?

ACT is a program that is to be completed by all individuals convicted of a DUI or DUI per se, Multiple MIP’s (3 or more), Reckless Driving or a Drug Misdemeanor.

ACT stands for:

A = Assessment: An evaluation process used to determine whether or not you have a drug or alcohol problem. You will meet with a Licensed Addiction Counselor for up to 2 individual sessions, take a written CD test, be required to bring in 2 Concerned Person Questionnaires (CPQ) as part of the assessment.

C = Course: You must attend 4 three-hour educational classes. The State of MT has adopted the Prime for Life course that is being utilized statewide. The educational classes go over prevention, reflecting and protecting. For more information regarding Prime for Life go to www.primeforlife.org.

T = Treatment: will be recommended if you are found to be chemically dependent on alcohol or drugs. Treatment is required if you are a repeat DUI offender. A repeat offender may choose their certified chemical dependency counselor for treatment.

An ACT participant must enroll, and attend all four educational classes. After all four class sessions have been completed, you have paid in full, returned 2 Concerned Person Questionnaires (CPQs), retaken the CD2 test (if necessary), an individual assessment will be scheduled. You must schedule this within 2-4 weeks after your last PRIME FOR LIFE class. At your final individual appointment, you will sign the court referral form and a copy of this will be sent to your sentencing judge. You must complete the ACT program within 90 days to be compliant with your court order. Any extension would need to be given by your sentencing court.
